AUBURNDALE – Wausau Newman Catholic lost the first set before storming back to defeat Auburndale 3-1 in the Marawood Conference South Division volleyball opener for both teams on Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale won the first game 25-23, before the Cardinals came back to post three consecutive wins, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18.

Josie Ertl had 15 kills, Ashlyn Grimm had 28 assists, 10 kills and 25 digs, and Maggie Baltus had 24 digs for Auburndale.

Auburndale plays a nonconference match at Iola-Scandinavia on Thursday before hosting its annual invitational on Saturday.
