Columbus Catholic soccer downs Pacelli to stay undefeated in CWC

MARSHFIELD – Alex Edwards scored a pair of goals just before halftime to give Columbus Catholic some cushion and the Dons went on for a 6-2 win over Stevens Point Pacelli in a Central Wisconsin Conference soccer game Monday at Griese Park.

Grant Olson scored at the 14:03 mark and Mason Edwards added another score 2½ minutes later to put the Dons on top 2-0 in a battle between the final two undefeated teams in the CWC.

After 20 minutes of back and forth between the two teams, Alex Edwards scored a twice in span of 59 seconds to give Columbus Catholic a commanding 4-0 lead.

Mira Torbey and Cade Jansen added goals in the second half, before Pacelli scored twice late.

Lucas Kreklau made three saves in goal for the Dons, who are now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the CWC.

Columbus Catholic hosts Three Lakes/Phelps for a nonconference game Tuesday at Griese Park at 5 p.m.
