Columbus Catholic’s Scheer finishes second again at Neillsville/Granton Cross Country Invitational

NEILLSVILLE – Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer picked up another runner-up finish as he took second in the boys race at the Neillsville/Granton Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Levis-Trow Mounds Recreational Area.

Landon Clark of Mondovi won the boys race in 17:16.0, 10 seconds ahead of Scheer, who earned his fifth-straight runner-up finish after winning the Dons’ initial meet at Pittsville in late August.

Auburndale finished third in a tight team standings with 96 points, behind only Bangor (88) and Marathon (91). Columbus Catholic was 11th with 230 points.

Charles Jewell finished ninth in 18:49.1 and Mason White Eagle was 13th in 19:05.4 to lead the Auburndale boys.

Zack Christensen added a 27th-place finish (20:05.6) for the Dons.

Fall Creek won the girls team title with 67 points, with Cadott second with 83 and Tomah third with 96. Columbus Catholic and Auburndale had incomplete teams.

Courntey Stadter of Mondovi won the girls race in 20:25.5, 30 seconds in front of Anna Fronk of Bangor.

Katelyn Casperson was 39th in 26:21.1 to lead the Dons.

Hope Schulte, Auburndale’s lone girl runner, took 46th in 26:55.0.
