EAU CLAIRE – The Stratford JV2 football team continued to play well with a 33-0 win at Eau Claire Memorial on Thursday.

The Tigers used three turnovers, a blocked punt, some key fourth-down stops, and a safety to shut out the Old Abes.

After an Eau Claire turnover, Collin Cournoyer scored on a 4-yard run and a 2-point conversion pass from by Brady Berg to Zander Zawislan gave the Tigers a quick 8-0 lead.

Colton Breit took a Berg pass for a 74-yard score later in the first quarter and Berg ran in the 2-point conversion to make the score 16-0 in favor of Stratford.

With 14 seconds left in the second quarter, Berg found Breit in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Mason Miller converted the PAT for a 23-0 halftime lead.

Midway through the third quarter, a well-placed punt and great coverage found the Old Abes starting their drive on their own 3-yard line. Two plays later, the Tigers defense gang tackled the running back in the Eau Claire end zone for a safety and a 25-0 lead.

Breit returned a punt for a touchdown and Berg converted a 2-point conversion run to finish the scoring on the night.

Defensive leaders for the Tigers were Parker Glenn, Riley Spindler and Jackson Dahlke.

The Tigers finish their season Oct. 13 at Medford.
