Marshfield’s Foemmel named Offensive Player of the Year, Tigers earn eight spots on first team of 2022 All-Valley Football Association Team

Marshfield senior quarterback Trevor Foemmel was named Offensive Player of the Year and was one of eight Tigers to earn first-team honors on the 2022 All-Valley Football Association Team, as voted on by the conference coaches following the regular season.

Foemmel finished fourth in the conference in rushing yards (623) and passing yards (759), and accounted for a conference-best 22 touchdowns – eight on the ground and 14 through the air.

Also earning first-team accolades for Marshfield were offensive linemen Noah Peterson and Sebastian Grancorvitz, wide receiver Luke LeMoine, tight end Sam Meverden, defensive linemen Adrian Kruger and Isaac Dagit, and outside linebacker Vaughn Kolbeck. All are seniors. Peterson, Meverden and Dagit were unanimous selections.

LeMoine finished 22 catches for 372 yards and tied for the conference-high in touchdowns with seven. Meverden had 14 catches for 206 yards and four scores.

Kolbeck finished fourth in conference in total tackles with 69 and Dagit was fifth with 62, which included a conference-best 6½ sacks.

Marshfield’s Denny Goettl was named Coach of the Year as the Tigers tied Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau West for the VFA championship.

Offensive lineman Andrew Marsh, outside linebacker Garrett Willuweit, kicker Braxton Kurth and return specialist Evan Pretsch were second-team selections. Fullback Eli Colby, receiver Brooks Hinson, running back Jeff Marsh, defensive lineman Cole Halvorsen, inside linebacker Reid Geiger and cornerback Bennett Lang were honorable mention choices as well for Marshfield.

Wisconsin Rapids senior defensive lineman Connor Akey was named Defensive Player of the Year.
