Spencer girls basketball uses free throw advantage to defeat Owen-Withee

OWEN – Spencer made just seven field goals, but won the battle at the free throw line and defeated Owen-Withee 38-30 in a foul-marred Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Owen-Withee High School.

Each team committed 24 fouls and the two squads combined for 67 free throws. Spencer was 22-for-32 from the line, while the Blackhawks were only 9-for-35 as the Rockets were able to pull away.

Spencer is now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Owen-Withee falls to 1-4 and 1-3 in the conference.

Autumn Davis was 10 of 13 from the free throw line and scored 17 points to lead Spencer. Hallie Meyer added eight points in the win.

Kendall Weiler scored 11 points for Owen-Withee.

Spencer returns to action Friday with a home conference game against Greenwood. The game will start at 7:15 p.m.
