College roundup: Updates on Hertel, Lucio, Mitchell, Bohman, Berry, Krueger, LeMoine

Hertel, Lucio wrestling at UW-La Crosse

Nolan Hertel

Nolan Hertel, a 2019 graduate of Marshfield High School, and Elijah Lucio, a 2022 graduate of Stratford High School, are members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team.

Hertel, a fifth-place finisher at last year’s NCAA Division III national tournament, is 9-0 at 157 pounds with one pin this season. He went 26-5 last year, winning titles at the Division III regional and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournaments.

Lucio, a true freshman, is 2-3 this season, going 1-1 at 157 pounds and 1-2 at 165.

La Crosse is 4-0 in dual meets this season heading into a double-dual at Rochester Community & Technical College (Minn.) on Thursday.

Mitchell continues career at Buffalo

Elijah Lucio

Mitchell is 9-3 this season at 197 pounds heading into the Bulls’ match at North Dakota State on Sunday. He owns a 34-30 career record in his three seasons with Buffalo.

Four Marshfield grads wrap up football season at UW-La Crosse

Four Marshfield High School graduates played for the UW-La Crosse football team this season as the Eagles finished 9-2 overall and tied UW-Whitewater for the WIAC championship with a 6-1 mark.

Senior Connor Berry, a 2018 Marshfield grad, finished up his fourth season for the Eagles seeing limited action, making two appearances on the offensive line.

Junior running back Brant Bohman and punter Ryan Krueger, both 2019 Marshfield graduates, saw extensive playing time.

Bohman rushed for 389 yards and a touchdown, and caught three passes for 29 yards and another score. He also returned five kickoffs for 97 yards during the season. Bohman had a career-high 156 rushing yards on 13 carries and scored a touchdown in a win over UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 15.

Krueger punted 30 times during the season for a 38.7-yard averaging. He had a long of 58 yards and placed six kicks inside the 20-yard line.

Wyatt LeMoine, a sophomore wide receiver and a 2021 Marshfield High grad, appeared in six games and finished with two catches for 57 yards, both coming in the win over Eau Claire.

La Crosse qualified for the NCAA Division III playoffs and lost to Warburg College (Iowa) 14-6 in the first round on Nov. 19.
