Marshfield boys hockey drops road game at Rhinelander

RHINELANDER – Layne Roeser scored twice and Leo Losch had two assists to lead Rhinelander to a 4-1 win over Marshfield in nonconference boys hockey action Wednesday at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Cody Everson and Roeser scored in the second to give the Hodags (5-1) a 2-0 lead.

Tyler Reissmann scored just 21 seconds into the third period for Marshfield to cut the deficit in half, but the Hodags responded with with two goals in a 57-second stretch to open their lead to three.

Cole Halvorsen had 22 saves in goal for Marshfield, which falls to 5-4 this season.

Marshfield will play at the Culvers Cup in Madison on Dec. 28-30. The Tigers will take on Madison Memorial in its first match on Dec. 28 at 7:45 p.m.
