AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team dominated from start to finish, pounding Pittsville 63-21 in a nonconference game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale cruised out to a 30-11 lead by halftime and outscored the Panthers by 20 in the second to win going away, improving to 15-2 this season.

Alex Wilfahrt scored 17 points and Caden Weinfurter made four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points for the Eagles.

Auburndale shot 45.6 percent (26-for-57) and made eight 3-pointers, while holding Pittsville (13-4) to just 20 percent shooting (8 of 40) and just 3 of 22 from 3-point range.

Auburndale will play at Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday to try to keep its Marawood Conference South Division championship hopes alive. The Eagles are 9-2 in the conference, while Newman is 9-1 and Marathon is 10-1.
