Stratford boys basketball snags tight win at Neillsville

NEILLSVILLE – The Stratford boys basketball team cooled off a red-hot Neillsville squad on Saturday night, defeating the Warriors 54-53 in a nonconference matchup at Neillsville High School.

Braeden Schueller scored 19 points and Henry Zaleski came off the bench to chip in eight as the Tigers halted Neillsville’s five-game winning streak.

Neillsville missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Stratford shot just 38 percent (19-for-49) but were able to overcome a two-point halftime deficit to earn the road win and improve to 9-7 this season.

Stratford will play at Marawood Conference South Division leader Marathon on Tuesday.
