SUPERIOR – The Marshfield boys hockey team could not continue the magic it found in an upset of Wausau West in the opening round of the WIAA playoffs and were shut out by Superior 7-0 in a WIAA Division 1 regional final Thursday at Wessman Arena.

The Tigers were outshot 40-12 in the loss, finishing their season with a 14-12 record. Cole Halvorsen saved 33 shots in goal for Marshfield.

Brayden Severin had a hat trick, all in the third period, for Superior (13-11).

No. 3 seed Superior moves on to a Division 1 sectional semifinal at No. 2 Stevens Point (22-3), a 6-3 winner over Eau Claire North, on Tuesday, Feb. 21. No. 8 Wisconsin Rapids upset No. 1 seed Eau Claire Memorial 6-4 on Thursday and will travel to No. 4 Hudson for other sectional semifinal.
