Spencer girls basketball rolls past Thorp to snap long losing skid

SPENCER – The Spencer girls basketball team snapped a 17-game losing streak with a resounding 56-40 win over Thorp in the eighth-place game of Cloverbelt Conference crossovers on Thursday night at Spencer High School.

Spencer rolled out to a 30-18 lead by halftime and were able to finish off the win as Autumn Davis scored 11 of her 12 points in the second half.

Claudia Krause made three 3-pointers and led Spencer with 13 points, and Hannah Schreiner chipped in 10 points for the Rockets (3-20).

Ava Teclaw had four 3-pointers and scored 20 points for Thorp (2-21).

Spencer will play a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal at Abbotsford (12-9) on Tuesday.
