Relay team, two divers compete for Marshfield at 2023 WIAA State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships

WAUKESHA – Two Marshfield divers and a relay team competed at the 2023 WIAA State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at Waukesha South High School.

Alik Martin, a junior, finished 14th in the diving competition for Marshfield. After racking up 218.10 points in qualifying, he reached the finals and ended up with a score of 299.20.

Sophomore Shaun Hunter did not qualify for the finals, taking 20th in the semifinals with a score of 197.10. David Krol of Mequon Homestead won the diving competition with a score of 518.45.

Marshfield’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kyle Berres, Simon Dagit, Carson Klumb and Henry Hilbelink took 20th place out of 24 teams, finishing the race in 1:31.24. The race was won by Middleton in 1:22.74, just 5/100th of a second off the state record that was set by Sun Prairie in 2021.
