MENASHA – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team overcame a 15-point halftime deficit to knock off UW-Fox Valley 70-60 on Friday.

The Marauders (3-6, 3-4 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) shot 56.7 percent from the field in the second half after shooting just 22.6 percent in the first half.

Paige Albrecht led the Marauders with 22 points. Ashley Pongratz added 19 points and Karlee Rosentreter chipped in 15.

“Down by 15 at halftime, we made an adjustment on the defensive end and the players responded by playing a tough man defense,” Marshfield coach Lori Galetka said. “We also set a goal before the game to have 15 turnovers or less since we’ve been averaging 20-22. We ended the night with 13 so that was another positive for us.”

The Marauders play at UW-Marathon County in Wausau at 5 p.m. Monday.
