Columbus Catholic softball thumps Stanley-Boyd

MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic overcame eight errors in the field with an impressive night at the plate and defeated Stanley-Boyd 11-5 in a nonconference softball game Monday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

The Dons pounded out 17 hits, four from Akosua Yeboah, as they overcame their defensive lapse to improve to 3-2 this season.

Hailey Zimmermann earned the pitching win for Columbus Catholic, striking out 11 and walking five in a complete game. She also had a pair of doubles at the plate.

Shelby Spata had two hits and three RBI, and Yeboah and Rhya Dieringer each drove in a pair of runs in the win for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic returns to action Tuesday for another nonconference home game against Pittsville beginning at 5 p.m. at the Fairgrounds.
