Columbus Catholic baseball pounds Greenwood in Cloverbelt East opener

GREENWOOD – Mac Konieczny and Nathan Nemitz combined on a one-hit shutout as the Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team rolled to a 19-0 win over Greenwood in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener for both teams on Tuesday.

Mac Konieczny struck out five in 2 2/3 innings without giving up a hit, and Nemitz finished up allowing just one hit and one walk in 2 1/3 innings.

Drew Lang went 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored, Brennan Schneider had four RBI on the strength of three bases-loaded walks, Nemitz had two hits, two RBI and scored three times, and Emmitt Konieczny had two hits and four RBI for the Dons (2-4 overall).

Columbus Catholic hosts Spencer on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
