Gilman sweeps doubleheader from Spencer softball

GILMAN – Gilman dominated Spencer in both ends of a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball doubleheader, winning 25-0 and 19-4, on Tuesday at Gilman High School.

The Pirates scored 14 times in the first inning and added 11 more in the second to win Game 1 in just 2½ innings via the 15-run rule. Three Spencer pitchers combined for 19 walks in the loss.

Gilman (5-2, 3-0 Cloverbelt East) also won Game 2 in three innings as it put up 14 runs in the first inning again.

Sam Soback had a home run, a single and drove in three runs for Spencer (0-9, 0-2 Cloverbelt East). Keely Schuh also had an RBI for the Rockets.

Spencer plays at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
