Marathon scores late to edge Stratford baseball

MARATHON – Tyler Underwood had an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to bust open a tie game and lead Marathon to an 8-7 win over Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Tuesday at Marathon High School.

The Tigers trailed 7-4 before Jack Tubbs smashed a three-run homer to tie the game. Tubbs finished with three hits and scored twice.

Vance Kielman also had two hits and two RBI, and Braeden Schueller had a double and scored twice for Stratford (3-2, 2-1 Marawood South).

True Thurs had a home run and drove in three for Marathon (6-1, 4-0 Marawood South).

The teams will play again at the Tiger Stadium baseball field Thursday in Stratford starting at 4:45 p.m.
