AUBURNDALE – The Wausau Newman Catholic girls and Medford boys won team titles at the Auburndale Track & Field Invitational on Friday at Auburndale High School.
Newman Catholic had 106 points to win the girls title, with Loyal a close second with 104. Stratford was fifth with 75, Auburndale 10th with 17.5 and Marshfield Columbus Catholic 11th with 8.
Medford racked up 126.5 points to take the boys team title, with Stratford second with 116.5. Auburndale finished fifth with 51 and Columbus Catholic was 10th with 29.
Jett Schoenherr won a pair of races for Stratford, taking first in the 100 meters in 11.31 seconds and the 200 in 22.67 seconds.
Payton Glenn won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 6½ inches, for Stratford. The Tigers also won the 400 relay in 44.67 and the 3,200 relay in 8:46.36.
Mason White Eagle grabbed the Auburndale boys lone win, taking first in the high jump (6-0). Lucas Yeske took second in both the discus (128-10) and long jump (18-11½) for the Eagles.
Isaac Scheer won a pair of events for the Columbus Catholic boys, winning the 1,600 (4:41.51) and 3,200 (10:01.86). Cal Birkhauser also added a third-place finish in the 400 (54.16) for the Dons.
Kayla Casperson won the girls 3,200 in 12:26.86 for Stratford. The Tigers also won the 3,200 relay in 10:51.31.
Lilly Hasenohrl had a third-place finish in the discus (96-6) for the Auburndale girls.
