HOLMEN – The Marshfield softball team earned a split in a road nonconference doubleheader at Holmen on Saturday.

The Tigers won the first game 3-1 before Holmen came back to post a 4-2 victory.

In the opener, Marshfield scored once in the first on a groundout by Raina Manlick, and added another in the third as Manlick singled to drive in Lydia Garvin.

After a home run by Kaylin Metzler in the bottom of the third for Holmen, Taylar Weis scored in the fourth for the Tigers to provide the final run.

Holmen scored twice in both the first and second innings of Game 2 and Marshfield couldn’t come back, settling for the split.

Katelyn Sternweis pitched well in both games for the Tigers, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit and two walks in the first game. In Game 2, she again struck out 12 and walked three.

The Tigers had 11 hits in the second game, including three by Sternweis and two each from Lydia Garvin and Madison Kraus.
