MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic baseball team had 19 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Loyal on Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.
The Dons won 15-5 and 6-4 to improve to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division this spring. Loyal is now 4-5 overall and 3-4 in conference.
In the opener, all nine Columbus Catholic batters in the lineup reached base at least once and eight scored as the Dons rolled in five innings.
Cy Becker had three hits and scored three times, Nathan Nemitz drove in three, and Emmitt Konieczny, Becker and Mac Konieczny all had two RBI for the Dons.
Devlin Timmler earned his first varsity win, going 4 1/3 innings.

In Game 2, the Dons scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to earn the tight victory and the sweep of the twinbill.
Becker again had three hits and two RBI, and Emmitt Konieczny had two hits and scored twice for Columbus Catholic.
Columbus returns to action Friday at Neillsville.
