MADISON – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s and women’s basketball teams were swept by Madison Area Technical College in a pair of nonconference games on Wednesday night.
MATC beat the Marauders women 87-65, while the UW-Marshfield men lost 94-58.
In the women’s game, Marshfield committed 26 turnovers and allowed MATC to put up 82 shots (36 made), while only taking 55 shots of its own (23 made).
Paige Albrecht again led the Marauders (3-8) in scoring with 23 points on 10 of 24 shooting. Marissa Draxler added 19 points and Kayla Fleischmann had eight rebounds to top UW-M/WC.
The Marauders’ men fell behind 58-31 by halftime and couldn’t recover.
Trevor Gorman scored 24 points, Jake Scheppler had 13 and Cullen Haldeman 11 for UW-Marshfield/Wood County (4-6).
Both teams will be off for nearly a month for semester break before returning in early January.
The women will be back in action Jan. 8 at UW-Manitowoc, while the men return Jan. 10 at UW-Washington County in West Bend.
