STRATFORD – The Stratford baseball team kept its hopes of a Marawood Conference South Division title alive with a walk-off 3-2 win over Edgar in eight innings on Tuesday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

Stratford trailed 2-1 before Henry Zaleski delivered a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game.

After keeping Edgar scoreless in the top of the eight, the Tigers pulled off the win without a hit. Cole Tichy led off the inning being hit by a pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on an error after a sacrifice bunt by John Seitz.

Zaleski went the distance on the mound for Stratford, striking out four and not walking a batter as the Tigers improve to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the Marawood South. Marathon clinched at least a tie for the conference title as it improved to 8-1 with a 2-1 victory over Auburndale on Tuesday.

Stratford would need to beat Edgar when the teams play again Thursday at Edgar, have Marathon lose to Auburndale in its rematch on Thursday, and also sweep two games against Wausau Newman Catholic next week in order to forge a tie for the Marawood South championship.
