Columbus Catholic baseball routs Greenwood to stay in conference title chase

MARSHFIELD – Cy Becker drove in five runs, and Blake Jakobi had four hits and three RBI to help the Columbus Catholic baseball team to a dominating 21-3 win over Greenwood on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.

The Dons scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning and added multiple runs in their next three at-bats to win going away.

Emmitt Konieczny, Becker, Grant Olson, Mac Konieczny and Brandon Lang all had two hits, with Lang driving in four as well for the Dons (7-6, 6-2 Cloverbelt Conference East Division).

Columbus Catholic plays at Spencer on Friday at 5 p.m. The two teams are tied for second place in the conference standings behind 9-1 Neillsville.
