Stratford baseball earns road win at Edgar

EDGAR – Brady Schmidt and Jackson Ormond combined on a two-hitter as the Stratford baseball defeated Edgar 6-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division contest Thursday at Edgar High School.

The Tigers scored in each of the first three innings to take command as Schmidt held Edgar to just one run through five innings. Ormond threw a pair of shutout innings to finish off the victory for Stratford (8-3, 6-2 Marawood South).

Jack Tubbs and Landon Zawislan each had two hits and an RBI to pace the Tigers’ offense.

Edgar falls to 6-6 and finishes its Marawood South season at 5-5.

Stratford, which will finish its Marawood South schedule with a home doubleheader against Newman Catholic next Tuesday, was eliminated from the championship chase as Marathon defeated Auburndale on Thursday to clinch the outright title. Click here to view the Marawood South baseball standings

Stratford hosts Rib Lake for a nonconference game Friday at 4:45 p.m. at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.
