Columbus Catholic baseball defeats Rosholt, falls to Amherst

ROSHOLT – The Columbus Catholic baseball team split a pair of games at the Rosholt Triangular on Saturday, defeating the host Hornets 7-0 and losing to Amherst 4-2.

Devlin Timmler tossed a complete-game five-hit shutout for the Dons against Rosholt, striking out four.

The Dons scored three times in the top of the first inning and added four insurance runs in the seventh.

Blake Jakobi, Emmitt Konieczny, Cy Becker and Grant Olson all had two hits to account for eight the nine Columbus Catholic hits in the victory. Olson drove in two runs.

Against Amherst, three Columbus Catholic errors led to four unearned runs in the loss.

Mac Konieczny and Brandon Lang both had two hits for the Dons (9-7).

Columbus Catholic begins a busy final full week of the regular season on Monday at Chippewa Falls McDonell. The Dons will play seven games in five days.
