LA CROSSE – The Marshfield baseball team split a nonconference doubleheader at La Crosse Logan on Saturday as both games went into extra innings.
Logan earned a walk-off 3-2 win in eight innings in the opener, before Marshfield earned the split with a three-run 12th inning to take the marathon second game 9-6.
The Tigers (8-9) were held to just two hits in the opener.
In Game 2, Cole Halvorsen had an RBI single, Ben Dietsche scored on a groundout by Adam Gilbertson, and Bennett Lang had a sacrifice fly to provide the Tigers with the three go-ahead runs in the top of the 12th.
Judd Higgins tossed three shutout innings in relief of starter Zander Edmundson, and Owen Griesbach earned the victory throwing 3 2/3 innings without giving up a run for Marshfield.
Gilbertson had three hits and two RBI, and Halvorsen had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers in the second game.
Marshfield hosts Wausau East on Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.
