Stratford softball splits two at Gilman/Thorp tournament

THORP – The Stratford softball team split a pair of games at the Gilman/Thorp Slamfest on Saturday at Thorp High School.

The Tigers lost to Grantsburg 3-2 before defeating Cameron 9-2 to earn the split and move to 13-7 this season.

Laney Pankratz suffered the loss in the opener, striking out eight and walking four while giving up six hits. Bailey Linzmaier and Lexie Christopherson both had two hits and an RBI for Stratford.

Whitney Myers had a double and a home run, and threw a complete game for Grantsburg.

Tria Tubbs struck out eight and walked just one to earn the victory against Cameron.

Kressa Wenzel had two hits and three RBI, and Tessa Berg had three hits and scored three times to pace the Tigers.

Stratford plays a nonconference game at Wausau East on Monday.
