CHIPPEWA FALLS – Blake Jakobi had a two-run triple to key a three-run second inning and the Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team defeated Chippewa Falls McDonell 5-3 in a nonconference game Monday at Casper Park.

Grant Olson knocked in Jakobi with a run in the first inning, and after Jakobi’s triple in the second, he scored on a single by Emmitt Konieczny to give the Dons a 4-0 lead.

McDonell (3-8) responded with three runs in the third, but that would be all it would muster against Konieczny, who went the distance with three strikeouts and two walks to earn the victory.

Cy Becker tacked on an RBI single for the Dons (10-7) in the fourth inning.

Columbus Catholic hosts Auburndale for a nonconference game Thursday at Jack Hackman Field beginning at 5 p.m.
