Marshfield boys swim team dominates at Rhinelander

RHINELANDER – Behind eight first-place finishes, the Marshfield boys swim team improved to 2-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 99-69 win over Rhinelander in a dual meet Thursday at Rhinelander High School.

Aaron Scheets won two individual events – the 100 butterfly (1:02.90) and the 500 freestyle (56.92) – and was also part of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

The team of Scheets, Michael Josephson, Ade Dillon and Jake Akin won the 200 medley (1:53.02) and 400 free (3:46.32) relays for the Tigers.

All three of the other relay team members also won individual events. Akin won the 100 free in 56.92 seconds, Dillon took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.90, and Josephson wno the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.02.

Tom Stevning-Roe also earned a first-place finish for Marshfield, winning the 100 backstroke in 1:04.23.

The Tigers will be back in action Saturday at the Eau Claire Memorial Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
