Stratford baseball slugs past Spencer

SPENCER – Stratford used a seven-run fourth inning to take control and went on to defeat Spencer 13-8 in a nonconference baseball matchup Thursday at Spencer High School.

Spencer led 3-1 before the Tigers exploded in the fourth. Stratford added three more runs in the fifth, and after Spencer got back in it with a four-run sixth, the Tigers scored twice in the seventh to provide the final margin.

Landon Zawislan and Jackson Ormond each had two hits and three RBI, and Riley Spindler had a pair of RBI as well for the Tigers (13-3).

Kaiden Miller and Reed Knecht both had two hits and drove in two runs apiece for Spencer (11-7).

Spencer wraps up its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule at Neillsville on Friday.

Stratford hosts Medford for a nonconference game Friday at 4:45 p.m. at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.
