Columbus Catholic softball blanks Alma Center Lincoln in WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal

MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic softball team had 12 hits and took advantage of four errors to rout Alma Center Lincoln 15-0 in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Hailey Zimmermann tossed a four-inning complete game, allowing just one hit. She struck out six without walking a batter.

Shelby Spata and Mattea Schlafke each went 3-for-3, and Katelyn Casperson added two hits and two RBI for the Dons. Spata had a double and a home run and scored twice.

Cierra Dieringer drove in three and Akosua Yeboah also had two RBI in the victory for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic (16-4), the No. 2 seed in its half of the Division 5 Sectional 3 bracket, will host No. 3 Pepin/Alma (14-12) in a regional final on Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds at 5 p.m.
