Auburndale softball rips Necedah in WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale scored seven times in the first inning and went on to crush Necedah 15-1 in a WIAA Division 4 softball regional semifinal Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

The Eagles (14-4), the top seed in their half of the D-4 Sectional 3 bracket, will host No. 4 Markesan (11-11) in a regional final on Thursday at 5 p.m. Necedah finishes its season with a 4-13 record.

Auburndale pounded out 16 hits in just four innings as six players had two hits or more in the victory.

Erin Griesbach led the way with three hits and three RBI, Taylor Anderson had two hits and three RBI, and Samantha Stanton, Danika Blomberg and Kimmie Lundgren all had two hits and two RBI for the Eagles.

Stanton and Ashlyn Grimm combined on a three-hitter for Auburndale.
