Marshfield earns 11 spots at state meet, girls wins first-ever team sectional title at WIAA Division 1 D.C. Everest Track & Field Sectional

WESTON – Marshfield will be sending six individuals in nine events, and two girls relay teams to state after they earned top-three finishes at a WIAA Division 1 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Stiehm Stadium at D.C. Everest High School.

Marshfield won the girls sectional title with 95 points, nine better than Chippewa Falls, and will have four individuals moving on in six events to the 2023 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on June 2-3.

Aubri Brown continued her dominance in the throwing events for Marshfield, winning the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 4½ inches, and the discus with a toss of 131-8 to earn two of the four sectional titles for the Tigers.

Michaela Dick won the 300-meter hurdles in 45.17 seconds and Danielle Minsaas won the high jump with a leap of 5-2 for Marshfield. Minsaas also qualified in the 110-meter hurdles, taking third in 16.25 seconds.

Also moving on for the Marshfield girls were Natalie Scharenbroch in the 3,200 (third, 11:32.89), the 800 relay team of Ellie Jensen, Lucy Luedtke, Olivia Page and Dick (second, 1:45.45), and the 1,600 relay team of Jensen, Minsaas, Ella Allar and Dick (second, 4:05.97).

Senior Luke LeMoine is going to state in two events for the Marshfield boys as he finished second in the 300 hurdles (40.81) and third in the long jump (21-6). Teammate Trevor Foemmel also moves on for the Tigers, qualifying for state with a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles (40.85).
