Marshfield Senior Legion baseball earns win at Merrill

MERRILL – Emmitt Konieczny threw five shutout innings with nine strikeouts to help lead the Marshfield Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team to a 5-1 in over Merrill in its Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference opener Thursday.

Aden Cherney finished off the two-hitter for the Blue Devils by tossing the final two innings, giving up a home run to Sam Reimann in the bottom of the seventh that broke up the shutout.

Adam Gilbertson had three hits and two RBI, Cherney had two hits and drove in two as well, and Ben Dietsche had two hits and had the Blue Devils’ other RBI in the victory.

Marshfield will play at Plover on Monday.
