MARSHFIELD – Merrill came to Jack Hackman Field on Thursday night and swept the Junior and Senior American Legion baseball games from Marshfield.
Merrill won the Junior game 18-8 and the Senior affair 10-4.
In the Junior Game, Marshfield led 6-1 after three innings before Merrill made a comeback by scoring four times in the fourth inning, took the lead with an eight-run fifth, and put the game away via the 10-run rule with a five-run sixth.
Madden Prybylski had a pair of doubles and scored twice, and Caleb Schaefer and Kallen Steinbach each drove in three runs for Marshfield (8-12, 3-6 Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference).
In the Senior game, Merrill led 5-1 before Marshfield rallied with a three-run fifth that included a two-run single by Isaac Zeps. However, Merrill responded with two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh, and the Blue Devils didn’t score again as they fall to 3-10 overall and 1-7 in the Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference.
The Junior team hosts Eau Claire for a doubleheader on Friday starting at 5 p.m. at Hackman Field. Marshfield’s Senior team will take a week off before hosting Wisconsin Rapids on July 6 at 7 p.m.
