Wisconsin Rapids offense explodes late to knock off Marshfield Senior Legion baseball

MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids busted open a close game with two huge innings and defeated Marshfield 16-4 in six innings in a Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference baseball game Thursday night at Jack Hackman Stadium.

Wisconsin Rapids led 2-0 after four innings before scoring eight times in the fifth and added six more in the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Marshfield scored all four of its runs in the fifth as Sloan Welch, Aden Cherney, Xane Adler and Mitchell Schade had RBI.

Marshfield (3-11, 1-8 WVLC) will compete at the Eau Claire Legion Tournament this weekend beginning with a game against Green Bay Southwest on Friday.
