Columbus Catholic volleyball sweeps three matches at Loyal Quad

LOYAL – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team opened its 2023 season by sweeping three matches at the Loyal Quadrangular on Tuesday at Loyal High School.

The Dons defeated Osseo-Fairchild 25-14, 25-6; Rib Lake 25-19, 25-15; and Loyal 25-16, 25-15.

Aaliyah Krenn led the charge for Columbus Catholic with 18 kills and 19 digs. Courtney Sommer had 29 assists, nine kills and 13 digs, Alayna Egle added 24 assists, nine digs and five service aces, and Emma Dolgner had 10 kills as well for the Dons.

Shelby Spata chipped in 13 digs and six kills, Mattea Schlafke had 10 digs and eight aces, and Izzy Hoglund had a team-high 10 aces and also had 10 digs in the three victories for Columbus.

“It was a great night to start our season,” Columbus Catholic coach Kat Egle said. “Our team shows a lot of potential and I’m excited to see them continue to grow as a team.”

Columbus Catholic will take part in the Menomonie Sprawl at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Friday and Saturday.
