MARSHFIELD – Hortonville scored three second-half goals and pulled away to defeat Marshfield 4-0 in a nonconference boys soccer game Thursday at Heiting Community Stadium.

The Tigers, playing their home opener, fall to 0-2 this season.

Dylan Glad scored on a penalty kick at the 29:40 mark for the Polar Bears (2-0), the only goal of the first half.

Charlie O’Brien scored twice and Owen Vedder added another goal, with Wesley Barker and Glad providing assists, to finish off the scoring in the second half for Hortonville.

Zak Meyer had 11 saves in goal for Marshfield.

Marshfield will play a pair of home games next week as it takes on New Richmond at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wisconsin Rapids in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m.
