Columbus Catholic volleyball opens Menomonie Sprawl with 4-0 record

MENOMONIE – The Columbus Catholic volleyball team went a perfect 4-0 on the opening day of the Menomonie Sprawl on Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The Dons earned the No. 3 seed in the 40-team tournament as it moves into bracket play on Saturday.

Columbus Catholic beat Menomonie 25-20, 25-18; Merrill 25-22, 25-15; Ellsworth 25-9, 25-16; and Clayton 25-12, 25-11.

Aaliyah Krenn had 16 kills, 11 digs and six blocks, and Courtney Sommer added 10 kills, 21 assists, six digs and four blocks for the Dons.

Mattea Schlafke had 11 kills, 10 service aces and seven digs, Izzy Hoglund had a team-high 24 digs, and Alayna Egle had 19 assists as well for Columbus Catholic.
