MERRILL – Matthew Uphoff had a hat trick and an assist as the Marshfield boys soccer team posted its second-straight victory, a 9-0 shutout of Merrill on Thursday night at Merrill High School.

Marshfield (2-4, 1-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference) scored seven goals in the first 29 minutes and added a pair in the second half to roll to the road victory.

Keegan Fredrick scored twice, and Joey Ketterer, Mason Croston and Dirk Vanderwyst also had goals for the Tigers. Marshfield’s other score came on a Merrill own goal.

Marshfield goalkeeper Zak Meyer didn’t face a shot on goal in the game as the Tigers’ defense kept them in control.

Marshfield hosts Pulaski for a nonconference game Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Heiting Community Stadium.
