AUBURNDALE – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team swept all four its matches to win the Auburndale Invitational on Saturday at Auburndale High School.

Columbus Catholic defeated Iola-Scandinavia 25-14, 25-14, and Stratford 25-20, 25-19, in pool play, before taking down Mosinee 25-11, 25-21, in the semifinals, and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 25-19, 25-13, in the championship match.

Courtney Sommer surpassed the 1,000-assist mark in her career with a team-best 28 for the Dons. She also had 17 kills, 15 digs, 11 blocks and seven service aces.

Mattea Schlafke had 24 digs and 18 kills, Alayna Egle chipped in 27 assists, and Aaliyah Krenn had 24 kills and 23 digs for Columbus Catholic.

Auburndale finished 2-2 as it lost to Stevens Point Pacelli 25-18, 25-20, and Prentice 25-14, 25-22, and defeated Mosinee 25-17, 13-25, 15-13, and Iola-Scandinavia 25-21, 26-24.

Lily Bellanti had 23 kills and 31 digs, Maggie Baltus finished with a team-high 37 digs, and Chesney Nagel had 42 assists and 20 digs for Auburndale in its four matches.
