Weyauwega-Fremont starts strong, rolls past Spencer/Columbus football

WEYAUWEGA – Hunter Melsenhelder caught two touchdown passes and ran for two more to lead Weyauwega-Fremont to a resounding 55-14 win over Spencer/Columbus in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football game Friday night at Weyauwega-Fremont High School.

Melsenhelder ran for touchdowns of 15 and 1 yards in the firs quarter, and caught TD passes of 22 and 6 from quarterback Kameron Zielke in the second for the Warhawks, who raced out to a 35-6 lead by halftime.

Mac Konieczny returned a fumble 45 yards for Spencer/Columbus’ lone score in the first half.

After two more Weyauwega-Fremont touchdowns, Logan Ehlert had a 20-yard TD run for SC to finish off the scoring.

Landon Behselich ran for 43 yards and Konieczny added 30 on the ground for the Rockets, who fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the CWC Large.

Zielke finished with 229 yards passing and four touchdowns in the victory for the undefeated Warhawks (5-0, 3-0 CWC Large).
