Marshfield volleyball dominates in two wins at WVC meet

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team had little trouble on Saturday at the first Wisconsin Valley Conference meet of the season, sweeping Wausau East and Wisconsin Rapids on its home court at Marshfield High School.

The Tigers defeated East 25-5, 25-14, 25-9, and Wisconsin Rapids 25-7, 25-12, 25-15, to improve to 5-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference this fall.

Abby Ongna had 17 kills and six blocks, Lauren Homolka finished with 13 kills and five blocks, and Kailyn Kurth had 41 assists and five service aces for Marshfield in its two matches.

Ashlyn Barwick had a team-best 13 digs, Zaida Kolbeck added 11 digs, Casey Dasler had 10 digs, and Grace Taylor had six aces for the Tigers.

Marshfield hosts Wausau West on Thursday.
