WAUSAU – The Auburndale and Spencer cross country teams competed at the Smiley Invitational on Saturday at Wausau East High School, a meet that featured more than 600 runners in the boys and girls varsity races.
Competing in the Division 2 & 3 portion of the meet, the Auburndale girls took 13th and the boys finished 16th in the team standings. Spencer had incomplete teams in both categories.
The Little Chute girls and West Salem boys took the team titles in Division 2 & 3.
Sawyer Cherney led the Auburndale boys, taking 103rd in 19:55.6, while Rose Hasenohrl placed 46th in 22:32.7 and Hope Schulte was 47th in 22:34.2 for the Auburndale girls.
Spencer’s top boys runner was Isaac Howlett, who finished 123rd in 20:30.1. Ariana Krueger ran in 30:20.1 to take 133rd for the Rockets girls.
Madison West won the Division 1 girls team title and Stevens Point earned first place in the Division 1 boys standings.
