WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Both the Stratford boys and girls finished second at the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Tri-City Golf Course.
The Amherst boys and Assumption girls won team titles behind the top individual runners. Amherst’s Max Voss won the boys 5-kilometer race in 16:38 and Lucy Dolan of Assumption was the girls champion, finishing in 19:43.
The Auburndale girls finished fourth and the boys fifth at the meet.
Cree DeFoe led the Stratford boys, taking second in 17:23, 45 seconds behind Voss. Derek Wiese added an 18th-place finish (20:18).
Auburndale’s top boys runner was James Binder, who took 16th in 20:13.
The Stratford girls had three top-10 finishes as Kayla Casperson was sixth (22:00), Samantha Mielke ninth (23:05) and Kressa Wenzel 10th (23:13).
Hope Schulte had an eighth-place finish for the Auburndale girls, running in 22:35.
Both Auburndale and Stratford will be back in action at the Athens Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 28.
