MEDFORD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic finished 3-1 and took second place at the Medford Invitational on Saturday at Medford Area Senior High.

The Dons, ranked No. 1 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association Division 4 state poll, defeated Stanley-Boyd 25-18, 25-20; Mellen 25-15, 25-3; and Medford 25-14, 25-18; before losing to Chippewa Falls McDonell 25-13, 25-18.

Courtney Sommer had 32 kills, 22 assists and 13 digs, providing Columbus with another solid all-around performance.

Alayna Egle had a team-high 49 assists, Mattea Schlafke had 18 kills, 15 digs and four aces, and Izzy Hoglund had 20 digs and four aces for the Dons in their four matches.

Columbus Catholic plays a Cloverbelt Conference East Division match at Colby on Tuesday. The two teams are tied for the conference lead at 3-0.
