APPLETON – The Marshfield volleyball team won three of four matches and finished third at the Appleton East Patriot Invitational on Saturday at Appleton East High School.
The Tigers defeated Ashwaubenon 25-6, 25-20, and Hortonville 25-17, 28-26, in pool play. In the Gold Division bracket, Marshfield lost to Bay Port 25-18, 25-20, before coming back to beat Green Bay Southwest 25-17, 25-14, to capture third place.
Abby Ongna had 37 kills, Kailyn Kurth had 63 assists, 18 digs and five aces, and Ashlyn Barwick had 39 digs to lead Marshfield in its four matches.
Lauren Homolka added 15 kills, Alyssa Foemmel had 13 kills, Grace Taylor had a team-high nine aces, and Casey Dasler had 22 digs as well for the Tigers.
Marshfield (26-2 overall) plays a Wisconsin Valley Conference match at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday.
