WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Keegan Fredrick kicked a pair of first-half field goals and that was all Marshfield needed to post a 6-0 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a Valley Football Association battle Friday night at Lincoln High School.

Fredrick hit a 28-yard field goal with seven seconds left in the first quarter and connected from 25 yards out with 2:46 to go in the second to provide the only scoring of the game.

Marshfield improves to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the VFA, and needs to win one of its final two games to earn an automatic spot in the WIAA playoffs. Both games will be at home as the Tigers take on first-place Stevens Point (6-1, 5-0 VFA) next Friday, Oct. 6, and wrap up the season against Hortonville (5-2, 4-1 VFA) on Oct. 13.

The Tigers defense held Wisconsin Rapids to 225 total yards while racking up 269 of their own. Individual statistics were not provided.
