Marshfield girls golf finishes seventh at WIAA Division 1 Eau Claire sectional

EAU CLAIRE – The short-handed Marshfield girls golf team had its season come to an end with a seventh-place finish at a WIAA Division 1 sectional on Tuesday at Wild Ridge Golf Course.

The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the 2023 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison on Oct. 9-10.

Hudson won the team title with a 356, two shots ahead of Holmen, as the two teams qualified for the state meet. Marshfield, playing without two of its regular varsity players, finished seventh with a 407.

Sectional champion Karalyn Skinner of Altoona/Eau Claire Regis (78), runner-up Mahlia McCane of River Falls (81), and fourth-place finisher Ava Frederiksen of Stevens Point (84) earned the individual state berths.

Brielle Lenz had a 90, Lexxi Oertel shot a 93, McKenzie Holm had a 105, Kylie Laufenberg had a 119 and Lauren Boon had a 128 for Marshfield.
